Asparagus IV.

This is Number IV. I had left this one until the end as I thought it would be the most difficult but it wasn't. I enjoyed painting all those brilliant white highlights of the plastic wrap and these would have been rendered a with a lot more refinement had this work been on board and probably in a bigger format. I left out quite a lot, like the lettering on the bag which would have been fun to paint, and some of the more subtle graduations of colour. I have also put them all together below the photograph just so that I could see how they looked 'together'. That's when I just love the internet. They are together on my mantlepiece and somehow, sadly, in real life, don't 'hang together' as well as they do on this blog. Thinking about that one for a while....!

Oh wow! I think these came out really fantastic as a series. I know what you mean about mixing green. It does help to make a color chart now and again, can be kind of therapeutic.

Thanks Carrie!! I know what you mean by working on a colour chart...I would like to do it in class with a teacher some time...I really need the guidance.

Your greens look good from here, Anne. I like all 4, but #4 is my favorite. Beautiful series.

Thanks Pat. Yes, I like the 'drama' of #4 as well!

I think the last one is my favorite. The richness and depth of the background, the added bit of interest in the wrapper, the deep colors of the ripe asparagus...yummy! I think they do look fabulous together on the blog, Anne.

Each one of these paintings stands alone and is exceptional, but all together they make a magnificent series!

Wow, you've been working hard Anne. They look good. (enough to eat actually hehe). I love the rich brown, picked up by the rose/purple in the asparagus' heads and stalks, in the last one in the series. You definitely got "on a roll".

Thanks Charlotte! Yep, I ate them as well. Hoping the 'on a roll' will continue. Time is a problem at present.
